Meet the Pros

layne ricks

Layne Ricks: General Manager
Layne has been a PGA of America Member since 1986, is a longtime Katy resident, and was awarded the South Texas PGA Patriot Award in 2015.  His experiences are vast and include prominent teaching and management positions at Lochinvar Golf Club, Tennwood, Glen Oaks of New York, River Ridge and Cinco Ranch Golf Clubs. He is proud to be General Manager and a part of Heritage Golf Group.

Awarded the ‘STPGA Junior Golf Leader for 2006’, Layne’s junior camps reflect his enthusiasm for teaching not only juniors, but golfers at every level, up to the seasoned tour professionals. His teaching philosophies have been refined over the years by close associations with such golf greats as Claude Harmon Sr., Butch Harmon, Jay Herbert and Dave Marr.  He is a Ping Staff Member, is meticulous and experienced in club fitting, and offers all golfers sound advice to improve any or all aspects of their game.

 

Troy Timm

Troy Timm: Head Golf Professional
Troy Timm, Head Golf Professional, is from Wisconsin where his love for the game of golf developed during summers in high school & college working at a golf course.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.A. in History, and then followed his passion for golf to Southern California where he attended the San Diego Golf Academy, graduating with Honors. There he learned many of the teaching and management skills needed to be successful in the industry. His teaching methods were honed by PGA Professionals, including Michael Flanagan (two time PGA Professional of the Year, San Diego Chapter) and Buddy Allin (Five Time PGA Tour Winner).

In California, Troy worked at courses in Encinitas and Oceanside. In 2006, he joined Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club and is enjoying Texas. Tireless in his work ethic, Troy is always positive and cheerful. He earned his PGA Membership in October 2011, is a member of the Nike Swoosh staff and winner of the South Texas PGA Merchandiser of the Year Award in 2016.

 

Austin Jones

Austin Jones: Assistant Golf Professional
Austin was raised in the Dallas suburb of Irving, Texas. He started playing golf at the age of 12, and was a 4-year letterman in golf at MacArthur High School. After graduating, Austin fulfilled his lifelong dream and attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics. He also founded the UT Club Golf Team and served for 2 years as President and competed in the NCCGA National Championship at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Fall 2014. Shortly after graduation, Austin was hired on here at Meadowbrook Farms.

Austin’s experience in the golf industry started by working in the Outside Services department at Las Colinas Country Club, in Irving, during high school. His career stops after that took him through highly respected courses including Texas Star and Teravista Golf Clubs. In October 2014, just two months before graduating college, Austin was promoted to Assistant Golf Professional at Teravista while finishing his degree. In February 2015, Austin moved from the Austin area to the Houston area and is currently working towards PGA Membership.

 

John Bizik

John Bizik: Assistant Golf Professional and Membership Sales Director
John is from Oklahoma where his love for the the game of golf began at his golf course that he and his parents owned in Northeast Oklahoma. Growing up he worked at the golf course in the summer and played various junior tournaments throughout Oklahoma. After high school, John attended Arizona State University on a golf scholarship where his teammates were PGA Tour players Billy Mayfair and Phil Mickelson. After his career at ASU, John turned professional and played tournament golf on the Canadian Tour and what is now called the Web.com Tour.

John is a staff member and certified club fitter for Titleist. His teaching methods were honed by PGA Professionals Vince Bizik (his Dad) and Paul Purtzer, former PGA Tour player and Director of Instruction for Purtzer Golf Academy in Scottsdale, AZ. He believes everybody has their own unique swing and teaches sound fundamentals such as grip, posture, and setup for his students to get the most out of their abilities.

 

Tony Allen

Tony Allen: Teaching Professional
Tony is a PGA member and began playing golf at fourteen. He worked at Bear Creek Golf World at sixteen under the late Dick (Pro) Forester, medaled in Varsity Golf at Jersey Village High, and played for Wharton Junior College. His professional career began in 1998 at Jersey Meadows Golf Club, continued at Raveneaux Country Club from 2000 through November 2006, and we are pleased to now have this Houston native’s expertise at Meadowbrook Farms.

On the Mizuno staff since 2001, he is a certified club fitter. His passion for golf and his friendly demeanor puts students of all levels at ease. His teaching philosophy and approach is simple; help each student accomplish a competent golf swing, a practical knowledge of their short game and the Rules of Golf. Tony believes the successful development of a player will preserve and promote the integrity of the game of golf.
